Astrid Carbonez
Astrid Carbonez is the founder of The Auctionist, an independent art and design advisory based in Brussels.
Formerly a specialist in Impressionist and Modern Art at Christie’s, she has developed particular expertise in Picasso ceramics and works on paper. Her experience in the international art market, combined with an MBA from London Business School, brings both a discerning eye and a rigorous approach to sourcing, assessing and acquiring works.
Her interest extends beyond the artwork itself to the spaces in which it lives. Working with private collectors and interior designers, she brings together art, collectible design and objects, guided by the character of each interior and the people who inhabit it.
She has a particular fondness for unexpected pairings: the precious alongside the ordinary, the refined with the slightly eccentric. For her, good taste is as much about knowing when to break the rules as knowing how to follow them.
